Client Device or Host Device?

In the Virtual Machine Properties > Hardware Tab > CD/DVD Drive..

When an ISO isn't attached to a VM, what do most people use, "Client Device" or "Host Device (/dev/scd0 or /dev/hda)"? I've gotten two different answers from VMware.

We typically use "client" device

The simple choice is "client".

A mismatch configuration could block VMotion, "client" is always safe (maybe not the faster solution).

I will disconnect the cd/dvd if not in use but leave it at "client device". It is easier for me in case some one need to use it, and i can just connect it and they can use their local cd device.

Andrethegiant- What do you mean by mismatch?

Does everyone do the same for the floppy drive? I am starting to deploy VMs without floppy drives.
