Change IP of Network Adapter on ESX 3.5 Host

I have installed an additional network adapter to one of our ESX 3.5 hosts. The NIC shows up in Virtual Center and all looks fine but how do I assign an IP address etc? Can this nbe done from the GUI? Thanks.

Physical NICs are attached to virtual switches - and then to these virtual switches you will connect port or port groups - Service Console port, vmkernel port and Virtual Machine Port Groups - and its to the service ocnsol port/vmekernel port or the actual virtual machine where you will assign the IP address for more information check out the Network section of

It depends on what you will be using the NIC for if it is for the VMnetworks then it should be open to all IP range however if it is for the service console or the VMkernel it will need an IP address. This is done from configuration---networling and when you add networking depending on the options you will be prompted to add an IP address for SC and VMkernel. Once you have created Vswitches for then the guest VMs can be assigned IPs in the address range you have specified for the VLAN assigned to the Vswitch
