Hi,
I have ESX 3.0.2 running on an HP server. I'm trying to create an NFS Datastore that will keep all of our ISOs.
The issue is that when I go through the process of creating the datastore and select finish in the VI3 client, I wait for about 20 seconds and then I get an error message that ESX cannot communicate with the NFS server.
I made sure that the NFS Client is open in the Firewall, and I also made sure that I am able to mount this share on another Unix server. I actually tried mounting the filesystem from the ESX command line, but that failed as well (it simply hang).
Does anyone have any idea on how to resolve the problem?
Thanks,
Guy

Do you have VMKernel and Service Console on the NIC you're trying to connect to NFS with?
Yes,
The virtual switch is configured with VMkernel and service console which are used by VMotion. Is there any special configurations I need to look out for on the VMKernel?
Do you have no_root_squash set on the NFS share?
I made some changes to the VMKernel, and it solved the problem.
Thanks for all your help.
