Hi,
I'm having trouble with installing VMware tools on Win2003 R2 Guest Client.
I got error says
"You cannot install the VMware Tools until the guest operating system is running. If your guest operating system is not running, choose Cancel and install the VMware Tools package later."
Does anyone got any idea?
My esx server is 3.0.
Thanx
Sorry I forgot to say 1 more thing.
After error message came up, I can click ok to proceed installing
VMware tools but after that, I get error says,
"A general system error occured: internal error."
Thanx
Is this problem isolated to this guest.
Are you choicing the install prior or post login.
Are you doing a initial vmware tools install or a upgrade
Thank you very much for your reply, bggb29.
Actually the problem could be VC.
What I did is post login installation, and I get fisrt error message
says guest os should be running and ignore the message and
click ok then I get internal error message.
(It is initial installation)
I still tring to find the problem but situation isnt very clear.
I'll post the solution if I found.
Thanx
I would cancel the installtion.
Logon to the server and then tell it to run a tools install.
If the install does not start, then browse to the cd connected
to the guest. Do you see the tools icon showing for the
as loaded on the cd. Try running the install if you see the
cd and icon. Or browse to the setup.msi file
Already have VMware Tools installed?
Uninstall the VMware tools instance that is installed, and reinstall. VMware has explained to us the MSI package has issues with finding an existing installation, and fails to update in place consistently.
