Can't delete files from VI client?

Hi all.

I have some number of directories with old, unregistered VMs in datastore. I'm trying to delete it by browse datastore from VI client and select delete from disk but I've got message that directory can't be deleted. What should I do to find out why it can't be deleted? I connect as root by VI client. Also files not busy, I can delete directory from console. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

Where are your files located? Local VMFS volume on the host, or on a SAN? Can you delete from the command line?

Do they still have the *.vmx files in them? I suppose you could re-add the vmx file to the inventory and once it shows up in virtual center, you could then delete it from the disk. That's how I removed folders from VIC in the past.
