CPU0

I have 8 hosts running about 340 vm's. I notice that when i put one of the hosts into maintence mode one of the other hosts vmware-hostd files will have cpu0 running at 100% Ive let it go for about an hour and nothing changes . When i do a "service mgmt-vmware restart" cpu0 will go back to normal, I was wondering if anyone had any idea's why this would happen?

Are these server in a cluster configured for HA or DRS?

I'm not 100% sure why the hostd process should run so high, but if this particular server is the primary in an HA cluster it might be related.

Is it always the same host which runs high when you place a server in maintenance mode?

Yes they are in DRS. It is not the same host either. Obviously when i put the host into maintence mode all the CPU 0's get a little higher if not hit 100 % but then they all calm down but one????
