BusLogic and LSI Logic drivers

I am having problems getting a Win XP Pro WinPE image on a new VM. It fails with an SMS error-

The action "Zero Touch Installation-PreInstall" failed with exit code 1

I think it is failing because it cannot see any disks. The VM is configured with an 8GB drive. I have tried both BusLogic and LSI Logic SCSI controller types.

Does anyone know what BusLogic and LSI Logic drivers are used in ESX3? I think that I will need to include these into the image.

Thanks,

Loz

Yes, XP does not recognise the disk controller "out of the box".

Under ESX, the default controller for an XP VM is the LSI Logic adapter, the following floppy image contains the F6 drivers for this.

This is helpful.

Is there also a driver that I can put in my WinPE image?

If you mount the .flp floppy image in the above zip into a running VM you will be able to the copy the driver you need from the floppy drive.

Your going to have to recompile your PE image with the appropriate driver.

That is going to be hard as I need the driver in order to create my first VM.

Once I have it I will add it to the WinPE build.

Any ideas?

The link below is the driver that VMware specifies to use in situations like this.

How do you convert the files into a floppy image so it can be mounted?

Thanks

Under ESX, the default controller for an XP VM is the LSI Logic adapter

... For 64-bit. XP 32-bit uses Bus Logic.
