Behaviour of VMOTION in ESX node migration to 3.5

Hi,

I've got ten nodes in my principal ESX cluster and VMotion is activated.

I would just like to know what is exactly the behaviour of vmotion if I start to migrate one node from ESX 3.02 to 3.5u5 ?

Is the behaviour of vmotion consists of migrating all VMs on this node to another and after re-import them on the node with 3.5 ?

Can I do it without stopping my VMs ?

Thx

Place the host in maintenance mode, this means the host will not be used until it has been upgraded. as soon as the host is removed from maintenance mode DRS will start migrating VMs back. If you have DRS enabled on your cluster that is.

VMotion doesn't stop VMs, it's completely live migration. So you just migrate all VMs off the host, upgrade it, migrate VMs back, etc.
