BIOS names and cloned VMs

Does anybody know if you can manually set the BIOS name of a VM? I know you can set the UUID.BIOS and UUID.LOCATION by editing the vmx file, but is there a UUID.NAME field I can add to the config file? Any information gratefully received.

no uuid.name parameter, modify the vmx file and assign uuid.bios a specific new value

Why would you need to set the bios name of the VM?

We have a hardware and software management tool called Erecent that monitors the software being used on each VM. It uses the BIOS name of each server, as we have deployed from a template, the BIOS name is being replicated and the management software is recording duplicate entries, hence the need to change the BIOS name
