Automated ESX Updates

What is the best method to automate the ESX update process if I am NOT using vCenter or VUM?

Hi,

I used to use this method before I changed to VUM.

Troy, I noticed in your script you use the esxupdate -r option instead of -d. Was there an issue using -d?

I didn't write the script, it was given to me by a VMware SE a couple of years ago. I haven't used it in awhile so can't say whether or not there was an issue with the -d option.

However, I can assure you it works Smiley Happy

From what I remember, there was no depot option from 3.0.2, and I used to use the repository option as well when I used to script my installs. Depot appears to work much better.
