Any options for the VMware tools install tab?

Hello,

I would like to set an automatic installation of the VMware tools without any downtime period and any reboob machine.

I know that when I right click on the virtual machines within the VCI, I can install the tolls.

Does any one here know where I can have a documentation where VMware speaks about the differents options that we ca set?

Thanks

What I found is to use Windows deployment via Group Policy. You have to manually copy the files from the ESX server (after it's upgrade) and copy the newer MSI file someplace and set it as part of your software install policy.

Then the MSI file will see it as a newer version and deploy it. From within the software policy you can dictate of the Windows machine can reboot or not. That's the most convenient way I found to do it. VM Ware can't control the behavior of how Windows will treat the MSI, but Windows group policy can.

For linux machines.... well that's another matter, haven't figured out a solution for that yet.
