Alignment and boot partition

Hello to everybody!

I have delete and then recreated back the Vmware partition using the VI Client and then i am creating with diskpart aligned disk in order to have the data (Exchange, file serving, DB Services data) into aligned hard disk.

Just a question: how can i align the boot disk? Using, for example, thirdpart tool like Paragon Partition Manager?

Furthermore, an hardware question: my dell 2950 controller Raid 10 has been configured with a 512k of stripe into the array: is it right for best partition in aligned system or i have to decrease this value to 64k?

Thank you, cheers!

Francesco

Hello Francesco,

if your environment already have running VM's, than simply assign the boot disk to them and create an aligned partition with diskpar.

BTW, MS has changed this behaivior with W2K8, this OS does create aligned partitions by default.

Hope this helps a bit.
