After sVmotion, VM shows as on old and new LUN

After running Storage Vmotion, the VM shows up as being on the old and the new LUN. Looking in the datastore, the directory on the old LUN is empty, so the move went correctly. Looks like something in the config file was not updated. Anything I should look for to resolve? Attached is the vmx.

Where does it show the old and new LUN? From VI Client datastores?

If you edit the VM, and look at hard drive, where is it pointing? It should be the new LUN only.

Yes, the VI Client shows everyone on the new LUN (VMDK, VMX). When looking at the VM summary, it shows the VM on both luns. When you look at the "Datastore" view (form the drop down on the top left), the VM will show up under both data stores. When you browse the old datastore it was on, nothing is in the directory. This is on several VMs that I moved.

looks like your .vmx is point at

scsi0:0.fileName = "MaintPool4.vmdk

Make sure the .vmdk is pointing to the same -flat.vmdk. If so, I think you are good.Confirm what the contents of the other datastore folder are before you remove them off the "old" datastore.

The VMDKs are in the correct place and everything works, it just shows in the client that the VM is still tied to both LUNs even though the old LUN directory is empty.

on the ESX Host where the VM is registered go the service console and issue

>service vmware-vpxa restart

....or restart your vCenter Server Service.

I feel dumb!! That was it, disconnected the CDROM iso and that resolved it. Thanks Troy!

you're welcome. I should have caught it earlier, in the .vmx you posted.

NOT dumb, informed! We are all learning. If you learn something in the process that should be a benefit not a hindrance. Don't feel stupid, we all make mistakes.
