After installing ESX Server, unable to access web interface.

I have installed a demo ESX server and it detected the nic and other settings and is pulling an address via dhcp. On the console, it shows the address to connect to the management interface.

When I try to connect however, I just get an "Internet Explorer cannot display the web page" error.

What can I do to resolve this?

Thanks.

Can you ping the address?

Can you access the server via the VI-Client?

Sounds like a network connectivity issue.

I can ping the address just fine. And logged into ESX from the console, I can ping anything as well.

The VI-Client doesn't work either.

Do you use http or https to connect?

Is the ESX hostname resolvable via DNS?

Check your host (A) and Reverse (PTR) records have been created and are correct in DNS, and the DNS server defined on the hosts are correct.

Hi.

I have the same problem.

That's very strange, because i installed before two other servers and i had no problem with that.

The connection is actively refused, when trying with VI Client.

Have you found a solution ( i just tried to reinstall my server and that didn't solve the thing) ???

Thank you

Have you tried connecting to the IP instead of the hostname?

If you cannot use the IP address to establish a HTTP connection and cannot ping the IP address your issues are beyond the web deamon running. I would recommend as the other person did about access it via IP and taking DNS out of the loop
