Adding printer bundle

Hello,

We have ESX3.5 running with 4 guests and we need to connect a printer bundle to

ESX host in order to connect it to one of our guest (GSX messaging server).

Could you please assist in how can we connect it and configure it for both Host and guest.

Thanks,

dahem

What do you mean printer bundle? Is this a specialized card because if it is is it will noyt work with esx.

Hello,

If you want ESX to be a print server, stop please do not do this, it is not a GOOD thing and a major security issue.

If you want ESX to host a USB printer, stop, this will not work. You must use a USB over IP device and present this into the virtual machine via IP and the device driver with the USB over IP device.

If you want ESX to host a Parallel Port Printer, stop, this may work, but will have some pretty bad performance. It is better to go the USB route above.

If you want ESX to host an IP based Printer, stop, once more this is making ESX a print server, instead just point the VM to the IP based printer.

If you want a VM to be a Print Server, great Idea but your printer either needs to be IP based or use a USB over IP device.
