Adding hosts to an HA Cluster

Hi. I have been asked to create an HA Cluster to allow for some VM's to be highly availble. I have gone ahead and create a new HA Cluster but am hesitant in adding the 2 hosts that I have to the cluster as the hosts currently have VM's running in production. I am wondering what the affects are of adding a host that has VM's running to a HA and DRS enabled cluster if I have chosen partially automated. Can I even add a host that has VM's running to an HA Cluster ? Any thoughts on this is greatly appreciated.

You can drag and drop your hosts while VMs are running on them to your cluster. there will be no problem.

The only time you need to turn off all your VMs while adding your host to the cluster is when you want to setup EVC (Enhanced VMotion Capability). This requires the VMs to be turned off.

Otherwise (EVC) will not be configured.

Thanks,

Adding host to HA/DRS cluster won't affect VMs, especially if you have partially automated DRS.
