Adding Additional CPU

Is there any kind of configuration necessary when adding an additional CPU to a physical ESX host?

nope... shutdown ESX, add hardware, restart. You should be good to go. Just like replacing parts.

you will be negative 1 CPU license on your license server when you add it back to your VCMS

Hey,

From memory, and this was a long time ago...

I believe it was fine, the ESX host just needed a couple of reboots to update the HAL, which it does automatically.

I suggest backing up first though.

Yep - last time I added additional CPU's to a host it rebooted once.... registered it and whatever else it does in the background and was then good to go.
