Accessing ESX files from within VI client

Help me from going mad!!!

The other week I'm sure I accessesd the /ect/hosts file via VI client. Now I cant remember for the life of me how I did it??? ?:|

I think it was a similar way as you would browse files on a datastore, but cant remember and now want to view the hosts file without being at the ESX box. pointers please!!!

Cheers!!

Not sure how via the VC client itself. You could however use FastSCP to browse the ESX hosts if you have the required port open etc..

D'ynow what, I think that may be how I accessed the files - via WinSCP! Thanks for jogging my memory.

It's a steep learning curve!!

Glad you got your memory back Smiley Wink

Rest assured, it is NOT possible from the VI client. You have to use SSH (or some filesharing tool through SSH like WinSCP like the previous posted suggested).
