A LUN Greater then 2TB?

On a physical box you would convert the disks to dynamic and stripe within Windows to make two 2TB volumes into one large 4TB volume.

Is there any reason i should not do this within Vmware?

I had issues with VCB backups and dynamic striped disk...If this is the case how can i have a volume greater then 2TB?

Thanls

In ESX 3.5 you can only "add" to an existing LUN (formatted as VMFS) more LUNs using extent (like disk concatenation).

But is not very safe. You can loose all your data if your loose only a single LUN.

In VS4 there will be another way, but with still the 2TB limit for each LUN.

Loosing your data is always a risk. but if you need 4TB and would like to have a VMFS providing it using extends would be the way to go.

Yes, using dynamic disk inside VM.

But if you loose a vmdk you loose all your data.
