2nd NIC speed throttled to 10/100Mbit

Hi,

i've got a problem with my 2 ESX-Servers. Both systems have got a Dualport-Gigabit-NIC (Broadcom NetXtreme II BCM5708 rev 12). On each system is one Interface (vmnic0) in a slow speed (100Mbit) detected. On the switchports the interfaces identifies even as 10Mbit speed.

One month ago, both interfaces are normal as 1Gigabit detected. I can't find any "failed" messages about these problems in the logs.

If I set the speed values on fixed 1Gigabit Full Duplex on ESX and Switch, the ESX disabled these NIC-Interface completely.

Can anyone help me?

Many thanks.

Check on the switch for packet loss, errors, etc.

Try changing network cables.

Are you sure nothing has changed on network topology?

Thanks to all.

Yes it was a broken cable on both server.

I changed them to fully functional cables and now it works fine!
