what is Vmkernel swap file

Folks,

Can you please tell me, what is vmkernel swap file. This file gets created when the VM is powered on and its size equals the VM max memory size ?

Thanks

The VMkernel Swap file (.vswp file) is going to equal the size of the VM's allocated memory less any memory reservation you have set for the VM. It is used for memory allocation if there is no available physical memory. It's a guarantee that memory will be available to the VM in any circumstance (though it may not be fast).

See the Resource Management Guide, page 142 for more detail.
