vmware ESX 3.x on Dell Poweredge 2650

Hi Guys,

I have a Dell Poweredge 2650 furnished with VMWare ESX \[VI v3.01] installed in the office for demo / development etc.

Is there a way to really quieten down the noise of the server when running normally ?. I cannot hear myself !!.

Having been used to HP and Compaq in the past, this was a really easy thing to do with CIM agents etc.

Best Regards

Bob

Like you I've seen the fans go slow when running HP servers with CIM.

Do you load openmanage drivers on Dell kit?

Here's the install instructions for the Dell management agent. Are the fans running at full speed like when the server is first powered on? Perhaps there's a hardware fault causing the fans to spin up to 100% .

Yep, you should be able to configure this with OpenManage/Server Administrator. It's not going to be super quiet though any way you look at it Smiley Happy

Thanks guys. I'll look at those links and install the OpenManage agents and see how it goes.
