hi,

has anyone come cross this error messege before:

" The virtual machine is not supported on the target datastore"

i got this when powering on the Vmachine after being migrated from ESX2 server to ESX3 server with data store upgraded from vmfs2 to vmfs3

please advice.

Could it be that you're using ESX3 to start VM from a VMFS2 volume or ESX2 from VMFS3?

Also check the scsi entries in the vmx file of the VM to check if the correct volume is mentioned.

Can you cold migrate the VM to another VMFS3 volume and see if it works? Maybe the upgrade of your vmfs2 to vmfs3 didn't go well.
