Hi
beginners issue in that have 60 day trial of ESX 3.5, using client to create Virtual machine and having tried both Client device and Host device against against CD\DVD with connect at power on option selected. When power on Virt machine it boots up straight in DHCP search and do not seem to be able to press F2 to get in to BIOS to change boot order. Am I missing something obvious? but was hoping it would detect my ISO image of Windows Server OS on my DVD
thanks
Hello,
It is under the Options Tab, the Boot Options setting has a boot delay.

You have to be quick. Pretty much the best practice I found is to edit every one of your VM's and therefore all NEW VM's to include a delay. I set it to 1000 ms, so you can press 'esc' to get the CD/DVD boot. But even better is to edit the configuration, and boot into BIOS the first time the VM boots, change the boot order to CD as first drive. Then you won't have this problem.
Even linux and Windows CD's now won't boot automatically unless you press a key in the first 5 seconds. So if you leave a CD in the drive by accident it won't force a CD boot.
