virtual hardware changed after ESX upgrade?

Helo,

a customer of us have a problem after upgrading the ESX server from version 3.0.1 to 3.5. He use a software in a virtual machine that generate a license key that depend on the virtual hardware. After the upgrade the software display that the license key is invalid. Does upgrading the ESX change the virtual hardware?

Thanks for your replies!

Regards,

Daniel

Hello,

Yes the virtual hardware can be updated when you upgrade to VI3.5, you should update the virtual hardware within the VM as well. You may have to have your license key reissued depending on what it is based upon.
