These files are snapshot files. VCB takes snapshot, copies snapshot, removes snapshot.

Anton,

These files are generated by the VCB server in Windows that is

installed VCB. In some virtual machines these files are not created.

My doubt is because the backup virtual machine that it does not create only 2 vmdk with the contents of the disks?

VCB do not generate any files, it just copies.

I briefly described backup process and -sXXX.vmdk is a standard name for snapshot delta file.

Check if this VM has snapshot.

I already checked and the VM has no snapshot, so I found strange files copied by the VCB for holding tank have these extensions.
With VMFS I have only 2 files VMDK:
[root@XXXXXX XXXXXX]# ls -larth *vmdk -rw------- 1 root root 342 Jun 17 13:48 XXXXXXX.vmdk -rw------- 1 root root 80G Jun 17 17:27 XXXXXXX-flat.vmdk
In the holding tank i have:
-rwxrwSrwx 1 xxxxx domain users 2.4K 2009-06-17 16:22 scsi0-0-0-XXXXX.vmdk -rwxrwSrwx 1 xxxxx domain users 1.7G 2009-06-17 16:23 scsi0-0-0-XXXXX-s001.vmdk -rwxrwSrwx 1 xxxxx domain users 2.0G 2009-06-17 16:23 scsi0-0-0-XXXXX-s010.vmdk -rwxrwSrwx 1 xxxxx domain users 2.0G 2009-06-17 16:23 scsi0-0-0-XXXXX-s009.vmdk -rwxrwSrwx 1 xxxxx domain users 368M 2009-06-17 16:23 scsi0-0-0-XXXXX-s008.vmdk
