My /var/log/vmware/hostd.log file is filling up with this message:
Throw vim.fault.NotAuthenticated
(vim.fault.NotAuthenticated) {
dynamicType = <unset>,
object = 'vim.AuthorizationManager:ha-authmgr',
privilegeId = "System.View",
msg = ""
The host seems to be working fine, and is properly connected to the cluster. I tried a reconfigure for HA but the error continues. Anyone seen this or know what it means?
Hello,
Sounds like HA still has an issue. I would recreate your cluster. That is what fixed it for me. Alternatively I would open an SR with VMware to get this looked at.

I would also start limit the log files from filling up as well by using CIS, Tripwire security configurations practices. It include a sections to secure the log and limit its growth as well.

I am running esx 3.5, but I received this same error after losing ha heartbeats between all hosts in a cluster (network issue). After trying to restart mgmt-vmware vmware-vpxa on all hosts and restarting virtualcenter, I eventually had to migrate vms, reboot all hosts and reconfigure ha. The errors stopped after the reboot.
Max: This might help you.
I had a host in which hostd process was crashing and due to the hostd logs getting filled up my root space was out and my host was not responding to VC.
I renamed the /var/core directory to /var/core-original for a day and renamed it back. This resolved my issue.
You could try this.
Hello,
Renaming /var/core to something else will not really fix the issue it just alleviates a place for the core files to be written. If /var and /var/log are their own file systems then / will not fill up. Which is the way I setup most systems. I would a solution to why the error keeps occurring and fix that first.

Hi
I get the same error but for Performance Manager event.
Throw vim.fault.NotAuthenticated
(vim.fault.NotAuthenticated) {
dynamicType = <unset>,
object = 'vim.VirtualMachine:2816',
privilegeId = "System.Read",
I tries restart of mgmt-vmware service and also a host reboot. This error message doesn't go. Pls let me know if there is a solution for this. Or if an SR is raised with VMWare let me know its reference number.
Thanks
Saradha
Hello,
I would open your own SR with VMware. The more there is of the same problem the better off its chances of getting code fixes as it helps to rank the most important items.
