esx 3.5
Hello,
I'm unable to stop a running VM.
No way to have a clean shutdown because the vm is not responding (os: ubuntu server 4.x)
From virtual infrastructure client the Power off command exits with error: operation failed since another task is in progress
Same error connecting to esx server and trying vmware-cmd
> vmware-cmd web2.vmx stop
VMControl error -999: Unknown error: SoapError: ServerFaultCode(0) : (Operation failed since another task is in progress.)
> vmware-cmd web2.vmx stop hard
VMControl error -999: Unknown error: SoapError: ServerFaultCode(0) : (Operation failed since another task is in progress.)
Thanks for any suggestions,
Valter
You could try one of the following methods from the cli:
vm-support -x - to list vmid's
vm-support -X <vmid> to kill it..
or
ps -auxwww | grep -i <vmname>
Find the PID and kill -9 pid
Also check out http://communities.vmware.com/docs/DOC-2290
