unable to login to ESX server using VI client

Hi,

I created a user other than root so that they will not have root priveleges to create and delete the virtual machines.

But they should be able to login to vi client ....so what permissions do i need to give. I am getting an error "Permission to perform this operation denied" when i tried to login using VI client....

Please help.......

Thanks.........

after crating user you should give to that user some role.

right click on your esx server and click on Add permission... from drop-down menu then select your new user and asign them some role, it can be existing role (admin, read-only....) or you can create some custom role in Admin -> Add Role and then asign that role.

- What is the version and Build no of the ESX server used?

- Make sure the user is Added to Read Only role.
