network configuration documentation

Hi, Does anyone know if a utility to document the networking that one sets up in the VIC? We need to rebuild an existing ESX server and we'd like to document what we've set up in some way. ifconfig tells me some things, but not everything. Thanks.

Hello,

You could take a screen shot of what is in the VIC or use the output of the following run from the command line:

esxcfg-vswitch -l

esxcfg-nics -l

esxcfg-vswif -l

esxcfg-route -l

esxcfg-firewall -q

Best regards,

Edward

If you want to document a ESX host, you can get a FREE script at

https://sourceforge.net/projects/esxhealthscript/

The script not only documents the network setup but also Storage, devices, VM's, etc....
