network card upgrade (on server)

Hi all,

I have to upgrade the present network card (1 port) on my ESX 3.5 servers with anew one (4 ports). Is there any procedure/activity to perform before shutting down ESX, open the server and change the card ? Will it be recognized automatically or I need to install some software ?

I will also add (8GB ram, but I suppose this is a painless upgrade...

Thank you for any suggestion, I would not like to destroy my server with its VMs. Smiley Wink

Hello,

As long as you are completely removing the single port card you should have no issues. It should recognize the new card on boot. If you were moving the 1 port then there would be some steps to take.
