I am trying to install esx server 3.5 on intel 965ry mobo but when the setup ask me to choose the installation method and I choose local cdrom then it prompt me for its drivers. I dont know which driver should I supply to it, can someone help me?
My another question is about 965 sata drives support does esx 3.5 support it?
And how do I install esx from network any guide http speicaly?
One of the questions is what sata chipset actually is used on your 965RY mboard. Is it a ICH6/ICH7/ICH8/something else?
On the ESX Server installation CDROM, there's a file called boot.iso in the /images directory. If you burn this to a CD and boot your machine from it, you can install ESX from an FTP or HTTP server. Just copy the /VMware directory off of the install CD to your FTP / HTTP server and you're good to go.
Thanks for tips I will try the network install but if its not detecting/loading the I/O devices drivers then how will the install process will continue.
BTW its ICH8 any one have its drives for linux?
You cannot directly use linux drivers for this. But if you look at the "Sata, clear as mud" article above then there's a PCI list which includes ICH8 so chances are that it works as quite a few drivers are already included.
You might have to follow the process down there on editing a config file. I haven't tried it down here myself.
