install a guest O/s with ISO located on network share

Is there a way to use an ISO file located on a Windows Network Share directly to install a guest O/s? right now, I have to copy the ISO to a datastore then I can use the ISO for installing the O/S. Note: I don't want to create an ISO CD if I don't have to OR copy the ISO to a datastore. Just a curiosity question.

Map a drive to the ISO directory from the windows machine you are running the VI Client on. Connect the VM console, connect CD/DVD, connect to ISO image

My bad. Forgot to add that we have a firewall separating our VI management devices from the rest of our production servers. But, you did bring up a point ....don't know that this will fly but we could address setting up a firewall rule to allow us access to the server that contains the ISO directory and then we could connect a drive. Don't know if that will fly with our Security folks, 'tho.
