how to "boot cdrom -s" in sol10 x86

Hi,

Let say I have sol10x86 installed in an instance in ESX3.

Now I want to boot that instance from cdrom.

The sol10x86 cdrom is in my notebook xp.

In sparc machine, I just insert the cdrom into the server and when boot press "STOP A" and type "boot cdrom -s"

How do I do the samething in Sol10x86 in ESX

thanks

when you see the vmware boot screen you can press ESC in your virtual machine, a boot menu appears. select boot from CDROM.

but you must be very quick.. to give your some extra time

do the following with your virtual machine settings in the VI-client.

Edit Settings --> Options --> Boot Options --> change from 0 to 600 for example.

thank you for your very fast reply.

I tried your solution.

Basically it will prompt me to boot from hd,cdrom or network.

I event set BIOS to first try booting from cdrom.

I put sol10x86 dvd in my laptop and set my vi client to automatically connect to E drive of my laptop.

In vi client, the cdrom icon still connected even if I reboot vm instance.

But still when I boot vm instance, it still boot from hd.

QUESTIONS:

-where I should type "boot cdrom -s"

Sorry dmaster,

My mistake, I mistakenly put sparc dvd instead of x86 version.
