how to attach SAN on esx 3.0.1

Hi,

We have attached SAN on our esx 3.01. We see vmhba0:0:2 which is the local scsi disk and we see vmhba0:0:0 which is the SAN attachment.

How can we use the SAN attachment knowing that we have the following message : "unable to read partition information from the disk".

What should we do to use this space ?

Thx

Hi Zybal,

Was this SAN disk previously used for another server using a file system that was not VMFS?

If so, the partition information contained on this SAN disk could possibly be the issue.

See this post for advice on how to resolve if this is indeed the case

you say vmhba0.0.0.2 is the local disk and vmhba0.0.0 is the SAN but this would mean they are on the same controller..?

go into your VI client, select the host, click Configuration and select the "SCSI Adapters". you should see a list in the top pane of installed adapters, there should be the internal, SAN adapter/s, iSCSI. select the SAN adapter and rescan to confirm disks.

what SAN setup have you got?
