Can I expand a VM disk size in Virtual Center then extent the partition in the OS or do I need to use vmfstools?
thanks in advance,
Grant
if you have vCenter 2.5 and ESX 3.5 (not 100% sure on the builds), and no snapshots are present, you can use the VI Client to extend the HDD, by going to edit setting and changing the size.
Is this a Windows or Linux VM?
If windows, and not a system partition, just use diskpart to extend the volume. If a system partition (C:) you can use a helper VM to extend the C:
Also, here's a good guide as well.
Linux VM...LVM will be the way...
thanks,
Grant
anyone have the LVM instructions on how-to on an existing volume group?
I agree with runclear, you cannot expand the partition without other SW. In fact there is no diffence expanding partitions in VMware with a actual computer, at least, I can easily resize the partitions by easeus partition master. hope this can help [http://www.partition-tool.com/easeus-partition-manager/help/resizing-and-moving-partition.htm|~390842]
