adding redo files in vmware esx 3.0.1

Hi there!

I've been trying to add redo files to vmdk files, so i can make a backups of the VM as an image (although i make normal backups with veritas netbackup agent on the clients).

That i want is to make the vmdk file available so my veritas agent can make a backup in the service console.

Does this command should work in 3.0.1 also: vmware-cmd cfgfile addredo vmdkdisk.vmdk ?

This is not making any redo file for me!

In the vmware-cmd help the addredo does not appear.

I know that 3.0.1 have snapshots, but i don't believe that snapshots are a nice way of backing up images (you'll loose any change done since you make the snapshot and vm machines restart if i revert the snapshot).

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks.

Pedro.

The disks must be in "independent" mode to use REDOs.

Unfortunately, it seems like snapshots are all we get in VI3.
