Xeon powerful and cheaper motherboard for lab. Suggestions?

Hi again.

I´m looking for a cheaper motherboard, preferible dual Xeon based processor or least similar, to build my own lab.

64 bits guest machines must be supported, in orden to admit Exchange 2007.

More than 4 Gbs of Ram possible.

Disk controller is not a problem: I have my own pci scsi cards.

I will work with exchange 2003 / 2007 and Lotus Notes 8.

Any ideas? Your experiences? Any ebay purchased material as reference? Any succeded experiences similar like this?

I'm pleased looking for your responses.

Regards.

For a cheap Lab eviroment you can try to get a dell poweredge 840.

It support full functional 64 bit guest with ESXi 4.0. Smiley Wink

You need Xeon with Intel VT (hardware assisted virtualization) to run 64-bit guests, that's not motherboard feature.

Actually if you also have discrete NICs supported by ESX you can choose almost any motherboard you want. Motherboard compatibility in 99% cases means that there are supported RAID and NIC on motherboard.
