What should we do after upgrading to ESX 3.0.2 Update 1 ?

We just upgrade the ESX Hosts from 3.0.1 to 3.0.2 Update 1.

We would like to know is it possible for us to remove all the stuff under the /var/updates directory - The gz file and the 61618 folder ?

Thanks

You can remove it. No need to keep it once the update process is complete. Probably wise to free up the space.

Go install the other 20-some-odd patches that have come out since!!!

I just upgraded and patched 20 other updates for ESX 3.0.2 Update 1 yesterday. Its nice to delete them all to save your space like others mentioned above. You can use the automated .sh script what it does is tar all your .gz files and then install them one by one in sequential order. Than it will automatically clean the directory for you which is a great tool by the way by Michael Knight.

You can also use VMTS.net tool and other scripts online but I believe Micheal's tool is the simpliest to use. VI 3.5 has Patch Managemnet built in and seems promising give it a test.

Hi,

Thank you for your advice. We will not upgrade to ESX 3.5 in the near future.

We would like to know where can we find the .sh script you mentioned ?

Thanks
