Can i install VMware Converter on the same machine as VirtualCenter without having issues with either applications?
Might not be recommended, but works.
It will work but you will generally have the best results by installing Converter directly on the server that you want to convert.
When we first started to look at Converter it got installed on our test VC, we've done dozens of conversions from it, never had any problems..
