VMotion Causes Some Guests To Reboot

Hi.

I have been struggling with this issue for a while now.

When I VMotion a guest from one ESX Server to another there are certain Guests which will reboot when the vmotion process gets to about 94-95%.

It does not seem to matter which ESX box it is going to or coming from.

The only common element with these guests is that they were imported from physical machines.

Has anyone else seen an issue like this?

Hi

are you using Virtual Machine monitoring? There is an issue with VMs rebooting after a vmotion event due to the heartbeat monitoring getting misread.

Did you apply the latest ESX update and upgrade the vmware tools of these guestOS?

I did indeed have monitoring enabled in the HA options.

Turned it off and now I seem to be able to vmotion things all over the place.

Thanks for the answer, Jon

Any idea what would still cause this, if monitoring is already disabled? we are running ESX Server 3.5.0 123630, with VIClient 2.5.0 119826 and VirtualCenter 2.5.0 119598
