VCB /Snapshots

I've been reading a few articles on setting up VCB, I have the licenses I will be setting this up along side HP Data Protector.

My question is when the pre-backup script runs and creates a snapshot of the virtual machine, where does it store the snapshot - I assume on the SAN, if so what happens to the snapshot once the backup completes. is the snapshot deleted or do I need to setup a cron job to delete the old snapshots.

Snapshot is stored in same location as .vmx file (but you can change it)

After backup (complete or not) the snapshot is deleted by VCB.
