This is what I just did.

Log in to the service console.

Run 'rpm -qa |grep -i vpx'

That should give you the vc client package name.

Run 'rpm -e <package_name>' (Mine was VMware-vpxa-2.5.0-64192)

Run 'userdel vpxuser'

Then go back to VC and re-connect

Hi,

Can you connect directly to your ESX host using the VMware Infrastructure Client?

Yes. Direct connection to ESX host works properly.

Did you get your issue resolved? If not, did you try the procedure I posted earlier? Are you having the same issue, or what is the error?

This would indicate an agent install related issue where the rpm file copy is incomplete and thefore cannot execute the updated vpxa rpm to the ESX host.

Have a look at the available space on the target host first.

Issue this command from the host console.

df

If the space is OK, then you should be able to remove the host and then add it right back onto the VC this way you are using the default management connectivity available from any client and you know it works.

This will normally update the certs and vpxuser security and upgrade the management agent.

KjB is using a manual method and it should work as well, personnally I would leave that method for last since the current management function is still operational.

Look in your service console, and run 'rpm -qa|grep -i vpx'

See if the agent got installed

Does the server still show as disconnected? Try restarting the hostd at this point, service mgmt-vmware restart

Have you check the following troubleshooting steps:

1. Double check your DNS settings and if possible place DNS entries in /etc/hosts

2. Restart VC server services and hostd as well

3. Remove completely old VPX agent rpm package and manually install them in virtual center server linux directory and make sure compare your version

4. Make sure your partitions is not filled up do a "dvf -h" command

5. Removed and reconfigure HA completely and reboot it and try over again.

TCP, if you have the client installed, that means there is some communication with the VC, since we deleted that manually in the other steps you followed. There should be some info in your vmkwarning and vmkernel logfiles. Also, check if /tmp/vmware-root directory exists, if it does not, create it, and disconnect/reconnect in vc.

Hello,

is on your ESX host a directory /tmp/vmware-root ?

Is not so, make a direcktory mkdir /tmp/vmware-root and reconnect the host in VI Client

Hi KjB,

I was mistaken the client is not installed on the host after rpm -e command.

Now when i try connect to host I recieve new error message from client "Permission denied" and after "Network copy failed for file".

Command rpm -qa |grep -i vpx nothing returns.
