Upgrade VC 2.0 to VC 2.0.1

Unfortunately I have to do this in a hurry, so I'm asking for help. Can someone chime in an let me know of any gotcha's and some quick instructions on how to do this?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, I would go with the latest version of VC, if you really want to use 2.0.1 go with the Patch2 version. Otherwise use VC 2.0.2 Update 1 which was just released yesterday. Every release of VC is a full install of VC and installs over the previous version. Make sure and read the release notes before installing as their are sometimes some database steps you need to do prior to installing it. Since this is a full install it will prompt you about overwriting the database and you should select NO for this step otherwise it will create a new database and you will need to add your ESX hosts back in and re-setup your configuration.

Here's the release notes for the latest version...

Also here's a good upgrade guide...

Upgrading from VC 2.0.x to VC 2.0.2 and ESX 3.0.x to 3.0.2 - http://www.rtfm-ed.co.uk/docs/vmwdocs/esx-upgrading.pdf

And here's some things to watch out for...

ESX Server 3.0.x Hosts Shown as Disconnected after Upgrading a VirtualCenter 2.0.x Release - http://kb.vmware.com/kb/4478241

After Installing VirtualCenter 2.0.2, VirtualCenter May Fail to Start - http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1001680

"Please insert the Disk:1" Alert Dialog Box Appears when Upgrading from VirtualCenter 2.0.1 to 2.0.2 - http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1001900

The process if fairly straightforward - either from either the CD or the .exe file simply follow the prompts (click next a few times...) and you are good to go.

Just make sure that you elect to NOT overwrite/reformat the existing database.

If you found this information use, please consider awarding points for "Correct" or "Helpful". Thanks!!!

############### Under no circumstances are you to award me any points. Thanks!!!
