Hello.
ESX 3.5 update 1. SAN FC Xyratech.
When I try to create vmfs datastore ESX report error - "Unable to create filesystem"
If I use vmkfstools - C , I get error - "I/O error".
On the same ESX server other SAN FC work normal.
Did you already create a vmfs datastore on the other host? - This process only needs to be doen on one host and then FC/SAn needs to be rescanned -
No. On other ESX hosts when i try to create vmfs datastore on the same SAN FC, i get error - "unable to create filesystem".
I've seen the same error when presenting LUNs to ESX that have Sun labels on them (e.g. they are 'used' LUNS). In general, I've just manually used fdisk to put a MBR- style partition table on them, and then ESX has been happy to creat hte VMFS.

It did not help.
All work well if turn off "Writeback cache" option on our FC Xyratex .
Under Windows 2003 it work well with turned on "Writeback cache"
If I change SAS disks to SATA on the Xyratex it work well with turned on "Writeback cache" under ESX.
