I'm trying to use VISBU to backup my VM's.
VISBU doesn't see any VM's when pointing it to the VC, but works OK when pointing it directly to the ESX servers.
I'm using a VML file as a searchspec in the vi-backup.cfg file.
vi-backup.cfg:
Config file created by vi-backup.pl 1.0.1 ##
hostname=krss003vc
username=administrator
password=blahblah
searchspec=/usr/local/vi-backup/serverlist.vml
exportpath=/vmfs/volumes/msa_vmfs01/mnthly-backup
2gbsparse=1
safemode=0
mailreport=1
mailserver=10.20.30.40
mailfrom=esxbackup.mydomain.com
mailto=my.mailaddress@mydomain.com
smb=0
Serverlist.vml:
include=powerstate:on
exclude=VM-NAME1,VM-NAME2:scsi0:1,VM-NAME3:scsi0:2
When I run "vi-backup.pl -c /usr/local/vi-backup/vi-backup.cfg" I get the following errormessage:
"FATAL ERROR: No VMs found from specified search specification 'powerstate:on'!
Name searches are case sensitive, please check your VMs name."
I'm using ESX 3.0.2 U1 with VC 2.5 U1.
I think this worked earlier when using VC 2.0x

I'm having a very similar problem, it's a shame no-ones replied to this thread!
The main difference in my situation is that I'm specifying the VM's in the "Include:" line instead of catching them all and then explicitly excluding individual ones, the error message is almost identical however, instead of saying "powerstate:on" mine says "any" which I don't get, since I'm not using the "Any" searchspec anywhere...
grr, frustration!
