Total data rate (KB/sec) Metric

Could anybody give me an explanation as to what the metric Total data rate (KB/sec) is? The reason I ask is we use Athene to monitor our environment and basically the majority of metrics are just set to the Virtual Center defaults. However on one of our VM's this metric is constantly exceeding its threshold 70 KB/sec - Alert and 85 KB/sec - Alarm.

I can see no problem with the VM, and I was wondering is this threshold set too low? However, other VM's on the same host & cluster have the same setting and do no alert. I know the nature of the VM will be a major factor, but If I had an understanding of the metric in the first place it may give me other options to check.

Thanks.

Jay

That network bandwidth. Dependingon the VM application, tht could be totally normal.

I'd set the alert to a higher number. Seems low to me to cause an alert. Assuming a GB lan, we have a few to several VM's that would trigger that one if it was set that low.
