Hi

I have a Host which has a NIC connected to a 100MB network and I need to change this to the 1000 Network

What is the best way of doing this?

if you are server NICs are set to Auto negotiate, simply unplug the cable from 100 MBPs switch and plug the same cable into the 1000 MBPS switch.

or else first chnage the NIC speed to 1000 Mbps then connect it to the 1000 Mbps switch.

That depends on how your NIC is configured. If it uses auto-negotiation it will simply adjust the speed by itself according to the connected switch. Otherwise you will have to manualy change the pNIC settings to 1000 MBit/s.
