Hello everybody,
I've installed vmware esx 3.0.1 on 4 LS41 ibm blades that are into an ibm bladecenter H with integrated cisco switches
On each blade, there are 4 gigabit ethernet adapters (2 + 2 optionals).
When I connect to the internal cisco switches I see that all adapters are on (green lights on every ports)
My problem is that vmware sees only 2 ethernet interfaces.
If I connect with ssh to service console, and I do a lspci, I see only 2 networks interfaces.
\[root@blade101 root]# lspci |grep Ethernet
02:04.0 Ethernet controller: Broadcom Corporation Broadcom NetXtreme II BCM5706 1000Base-SX (rev 02)
02:05.0 Ethernet controller: Broadcom Corporation Broadcom NetXtreme II BCM5706 1000Base-SX (rev 02)
\[root@blade101 root]#
The 2 added network interfaces are the same as the 2 originals.
Can anyone suggest me to do something to resolve this issue ?
Thanks a lot.
STef
If you run ifconfgi do you see the adapters?
If not they are not recognized and you can try upgrading firmware for example or looking in the bios if you have to enable them.
Yes the problem should be nic firmware. It is well explained, and solved here :
This is a design problem.
It is mandatory to have at least 3 cpu's (here is amd cpu) to access to the hardware 'below'
LS43 are double-size blade with '2 stairs'
