Need workaround for remote session check in vmware-config-tools.pl

We are running SLES on both physical and VMs. We have a fairly automated process that utilizes YaST for pushing out patch updates. This uses an X session at one point, and when I'm trying to upgrade our vmware-tools package, using vmware-config-tools.pl, I get an error from this script. The logic realizes the update is being run on a remote X session, and warns the network connection will be shut down - do I want to continue? It auto-defaults to "no" and exits without updating the package.

When I rem out the "sub configure_tools" section, the update runs properly, and I don't lose my session at all.

I don't want to modify the VMWare script. How can I work around this safety exit that's been built into the script?

Thanks.
